Dymon Self Storage Completes Mask Donations to Toronto Charities and Frontline Workers

Article-Dymon Self Storage Completes Mask Donations to Toronto Charities and Frontline Workers

Update 2/11/21 – Dymon Self Storage has donated a total of 2 million commercial-grade face masks to more than 200 charitable organizations, community groups and frontline workers across Ontario. Recipients included Canadian Mental Health Association, Children's Aid Society of Toronto, Compass Food Bank, GlobalMedic, The Ottawa Mission and StepStones for Youth, according to a press release.

The effort was accomplished with the help of several area politicians including Rudy Cuzzetto, a member of the provincial parliament (MPP) for Mississauga-Lakeshore; Christine Hogarth, MPP for Etobicoke-Lakeshore; Toronto City Councilor James Pasternak; and Michael Tibollo, MPP for Vaughan-Woodbridge.

The donation is believed to be the largest single private-corporate donation of personal protective equipment in the province. It reflects Dymon’s corporate commitment to philanthropy and pledge to donate 50 percent of its profits and 50 percent of the value creation of the company to charity over time, the release stated.

“Brent Wilson and I firmly believe in supporting our local communities, particularly at this crucial time,” Luckman said. “In response to COVID-19, we felt that it was critically important that Dymon-certified face masks be made available to protect frontline workers and clients being served by many important local charitable organizations and community groups.”

10/22/20 – Dymon Self Storage, which operates 11 locations in Ontario, is donating a million commercial-grade face masks to charities, community groups and frontline workers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The initiative is designed to protect vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a press release.

The masks are individually packaged and have a five-layer construction designed to filter out at least 95 percent of particles and help reduce exposure to airborne contaminants. Dymon will provide the equivalent of one certified face mask for every six GTA residents. It’s the largest single, private, corporate donation of personal protective equipment in the GTA, the release stated.

“Like everyone, we are very concerned with the rise in COVID-19 cases across the GTA and want to ensure the health and safety of vulnerable people within our community by providing commercial-grade face masks,” said CEO Glen Luckman. “[Our] donation of certified face masks to the GTA is a reflection of our corporate commitment to philanthropy and our pledge to donate 50 percent of profits and 50 percent of our value creation to charity over time.”

Dymon has already delivered more than 100,000 face masks to 40 charitable and community organizations in Ottawa, including the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization, The Ottawa Housing Corp. and The Ottawa Mission. The remaining masks are ready to be distributed from the company's flagship store in Etobicoke.

“As a community partner, it is essential that we take collective and decisive action to fight the pandemic,” said Brent Wilson, company president. “Wearing a certified Dymon face mask is a critical, preventative measure that we can all undertake to slow and stop the spread of COVID-19, particularly when used universally throughout our community.”

Founded in 2006, Dymon operates eight self-storage facilities in Ottawa, and one each in Brampton, Kanata and Etobicoke, Canada. It’s an affiliate of the Dymon Group of Cos. It plans to build more than 80 facilities comprising 10 million square feet.
