Article-Arrests Made in Connection With 19 Self-Storage Burglaries in Orangeville, Ontario

Police arrested two people in connection with 19 break-ins that occurred earlier this month at two self-storage facilities in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada. The suspects and their vehicle were caught on video surveillance at both properties when the thefts occurred on May 3 and May 8, according to the source.

In the first incident, the suspects entered the facility on Stewart Court at 5:15 a.m. and used bolt-cutters to enter four units. Five days later, the pair visited the property on Robb Boulevard at 4 a.m. and broke into 15 units in a similar fashion. The stolen items included tools and household goods.

Police arrested the suspects after stopping a brown Dodge Dakota pickup on May 10 that matched the description of the vehicle entering both self-storage sites.

Jakob William Hackson, 33, has been charged with 21 counts of breaking and entering, two counts of possession of property obtained by a crime, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and disobeying court order. He’s in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Heather Jean Mitchell, 33, is charged with possession of property obtained by a crime and failure to comply with a recognizance. She’s scheduled to appear in court on July 20.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are contacting theft victims to return the stolen property.
