The Lock Up Self Storage, a company with more than 30 climate-controlled self-storage facilities in the United States, recently received awards for achievement in business practices and architecture.

For the third consecutive year, The Lock Up Self Storage has been selected for the 2011 Best of Waipahu Award in the Special Warehousing & Storage category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA). The USCA's Best of Local Business award program recognizes companies that have achieved exceptional marketing success while improving image of small businesses through service to their customers and community.

The Lock Up Self Storage also recently received the American Buildings Co.'s Excellence in Design Award for their Kapi'olani self-storage facility in Honolulu. Winners are selected by a panel of impartial judges and evaluated based on innovation and distinction in design.

When you think of a storage facility, award-winning architecture isn't usually the first thing that comes to mind, said Andrea Carnes, vice president of operations for The Lock Up. But as I've always said, we consider ourselves to be the Nordstrom's of our industry.' So, having a building designed to fit that image is right up our alley.

Based in Chicago and in business since 1976, The Lock Up highlights its climate-controlled wine-storage units, 24-hour security monitoring and carpeted units.
