The live and silent auctions held at the Texas Self Storage Association (TSSA) Convention and Tradeshow in September broke the groups fundraising record, generating $23,574 for the Shriners Burns Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas. The TSSA has been generating donations for Shriners at its annual events since 1999, and the previous high was $13,454 in 2002. Linda Donihue, TSSA auction chair and former board member, and Bill Thomas, director, have been the driving forces behind the charitable events, which have raised more than $66,500.
Among the top-selling items was a jersey autographed by Lance Armstrong, donated by Capital Sports and Entertainment in Austin; an Elite SL3000 gate operator, donated by OMC Gate Service in Dallas; a Falcon keypad system, donated by PTI Integrated Systems of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a two-keypad DigiGate entry system donated by DigiTech International Inc. of Asheville, N.C.
