A new five-year pilot program announced in Victoria, Canada, yesterday will provide the free use of self-storage to homeless people who apply for it through social agencies. The Pacifica Housing Advisory Association is getting $87,890 from the provincial Housing Endowment Fund to administer the program. Items will be stored communally in 10 large units at Admiral Storage and Old-Winery Self Storage.

PHAA will ensure items are properly labeled and stored, according to association team leader Phil Ward. If the program works in Victoria, it could be expanded to other cities.
