Phoenix-based U-Haul International Inc., which operates more than 1,300 self-storage facilities across North America, has acquired Superior Self Storage in Vacaville, Calif. The property has been rebranded as U-Haul Moving & Storage of Vaca Valley, according to a press release.

Built last year, the two-story building at 1000 Aviator Drive comprises 92,782 square feet of storage space in 640 climate-controlled units. Additional product and services include truck and trailer rentals, moving and packing supplies, towing equipment, the Take A Box, Leave A Box program, and more.

“We have individually alarmed self-storage units, bright lighting, and other security features to enhance customer and property safety,” said Chris Trudell, president of the U-Haul Co. of West Sacramento.

The acquisition was driven by U-Haul’s corporate sustainability initiatives, which it supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint, the release stated. U-Haul’s adaptive reuse of existing structures eliminates the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps local cities diminish their unwanted inventory of unused buildings, company officials said.

Established in 1945, U-Haul owns more than 51 million square feet of storage space. It has a network of more than 21,000 locations across all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces.

Superior Self Storage operates four facilities in Folsom, Gold River, Rancho Cordova and Sacramento, Calif. It also has two sites under development, according to its website.
