Article-Founder of Shader Bros. Corp./Personal Mini Storage Passes Away at 93

Stanley Joseph Shader, co-founder of Shader Bros. Corp., which operates the Personal Mini Storage self-storage brand in Florida, passed away peacefully on March 24 at age 93. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Congregation Ohev Shalom in Maitland, Fla. A private interment followed, and a Shiva Minyan will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Congregation Ohev Shalom, according to his obituary.

Shader was born and raised in Orlando, Fla., where he spent his early days milking cows and picking citrus on his family farm that borders Shader Road. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 19 and served in World War II. Upon his return, he opened an army-surplus store in Florida and launched several other businesses, founding Shader Bros. and Personal Mini in 1982 with his brother, Ron Shader.

Shader was predeceased by his wife, Anne Shader, and is survived by four children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, siblings and other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jewish Family Services in Winter Park, Fla., or the Alzheimer's Association.

In 2017, Personal Mini entered into an agreement with National Storage Affiliates Trust, a Maryland real estate investment trust specializing in self-storage, to become a participating regional operator. The company manages 43 facilities in mid-Florida comprising more than 2.7 million rentable square feet.
