Two men were injured last week when they fell 30 feet from a scaffold while building a new self-storage facility in Sudbury, Mass. The Aug. 27 accident at 554 Boston Post Road happened shortly before noon, according to fire officials.
The men had been building a cinder-block stairway before they fell. They bounced off parts of the scaffolding on their drop, which and lessened the impact, according to Sudbury Fire Department Chief John Whalen. “They kind of bounced around, so it wasn’t like a straight fall as if they jumped,” he said. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
The victims were taken to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Mass., where they were in stable condition as of Thursday, Whalen said. Because it was a workplace accident, police notified the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The developer of the 3.1-acre parcel is 554 BPR LLC. It’s unclear who employed the men, Whalen said.
