Masons Self Storage, which operates 24 facilities in Wales, recently celebrated the renovation of its facility in Barry, a town in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 10. Gordon Mason, senior director, was joined by Welsh National Assembly Member Jane Hutt for the official re-opening. Additional attendees included staff members and vendors connected with the project.
Also present at the event was The Sensory Fun Bus by Positive Interactions, a charitable project supported by the storage operator. The bus offers a calm environment in which people with learning disabilities and their families can explore a sensory-room environment.
Following the ceremony, guests were offered lunch prepared by a local caterer as well as guided tours of the storage property and Fun Bus.
“It was a great honor to formally open the newly expanded, 24/7 self-storage facility, and to congratulate this pioneering family business,” Hutt said. “It was also great to visit the Sensory Bus, which makes such a difference to so many peoples’ lives.”
Property renovations included the addition of 170 new units, a new elevator and sliding doors, signage, and video cameras. The operator also installed new management software. In addition, the facility now offers moving and packing supplies as well as mobile storage.
The Mason Family launched its first business, local removals company Masons of Barry, in 1905. The company is now known as Masons Moving Group. The owners opened Welsh Self Storage Centre in 1991, and the family business was rebranded as Masons Self Storage in 2015.
