US Storage Centers Inc. (USSC), which operates more than 85 self-storage facilities in 13 states, has acquired a self-storage facility in Chatsworth, Calif. The former Storage Direct at 9818 De Soto Ave. has eight single-story buildings that offer drive-up access to units. It’s comprised of 89,655 square feet of rentable storage space in 767 units. The facility also has electronic gate access, onsite management and video cameras.
“It’s rare in the world of self-storage when a true core asset of this caliber comes to market,” said Mark McGilvary, executive vice president. “It has a strong location in terms of visibility, accessibility and drive-by traffic; it’s located in a strong market with outstanding density and key demographics; and it is a well-constructed single-story facility with mostly drive-up units.”
USSC also recently acquired properties in Winter Park, Fla., and Memphis, Tenn.
Irvine, Calif.-based USSC is a real estate investment company that acquires, develops and operates self-storage facilities as well as provides third-party management services. The company is affiliated with Westport Memphis Self Storage LLC and Westport Properties, a full-service real estate company specializing in self-storage facilities.
