The U-Haul Co. of Louisville has acquired Outerloop Storage in Louisville, Ky., which already served as a U-Haul rental dealership. The facility at 120 Outer Loop, just north of Interstate 265 and Kentucky Route 841, expands the company’s services in the south of the city. Situated on 3.34 acres, it features 10 single-story buildings comprising 47,611 square feet of storage space in 356 storage units. It also includes an 800-square-foot manager’s residence and 69 vehicle-parking spaces. The business has been rebranded as U-Haul Moving and Storage at Outer Loop.
U-Haul plans to make improvements to the property, including an expansion to the retail showroom. The facility will continue to offer truck and trailer rentals.
"This community sees our long-term commitment to the area. Every customer I have encountered has been excited about this new U-Haul location and the future plans for this facility,” said Chris Nester, marketing company president.
The acquisition of Outerloop Storage was driven by U-Haul’s corporate sustainability initiatives, which support infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint, according to a press release. U-Haul’s adaptive reuse of buildings eliminates the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps local cities diminish their unwanted inventory of unused buildings, U-Haul officials said.
Established in 1945, U-Haul International Inc. has more than 40 million square feet of storage space at more than 1,000 owned and managed facilities throughout North America.
