U-Haul International Inc. recently acquired American Mini Storage in Central Phoenix, which formerly housed a U-Haul equipment dealership, and has rebranded the property as U-Haul Storage at 19th Avenue. The facility at 9404 N. 19th Ave. includes 13 single-story buildings, a two-story office and a manager’s apartment on 3.81 acres of land. The site is undergoing renovations including new paint and lighting, the addition of video cameras and the integration of online-reservation capabilities.

“I am most excited about the opportunity to serve more customers,” said Jason Turcotte, marketing president. “I am really proud of what we can offer to our Internet-based customers. They can now rent a room from start to finish without even stepping foot into the showroom. Customers can still come to the front office and expect the same great customer service we have always provided, but we have been able to extend our level of service to increase convenience for more people.”

The acquisition of American Mini Storage was driven by U-Haul’s corporate sustainability initiatives, which supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint, according to a company press release. U-Haul’s adaptive reuse of existing buildings eliminates the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps local cities diminish their unwanted inventory of unused buildings, U-Haul officials said.

Established in 1945, U-Haul International Inc. has more than 40 million square feet of storage space at more than 1,000 owned and managed facilities throughout North America.
