StorageMart, a Columbia, Mo.-based self-storage operator with more than 165 facilities in Canada and the United States, has launched a facility-clean initiative to ensure its properties offer a professional level of cleanliness. Company president Cris Burnam wants to ensure his facilities consistently provide a bright, spotless space for commercial and residential storage, according to the company blog.
Together with Kathy Winkelman, vice president of sales and operations, Burnam established the “white glove test” for StorageMart properties. The company recently sent 300 white gloves to its U.S. regional managers, who have been asked to wear them during unit inspections. If ever a glove comes way with dust or residue, the unit fails, according to the blog. Managers whose units pass the test will receive a pin and be recognized during the company’s corporate retreat.
Burnam and Winkelman have also performed the test themselves at various facilities.
“When people see how we care for our building, they know how we’ll care about their things,” said manager Michael R.
Founded in 1999, StorageMart serves more than 75,000 self-storage customers. The company operates in Chinese, English, Punjabi, Quebecois French and Spanish.
